Summer Dresses

Summertime is the best for many reasons: outdoor bars, boat time, too much sun to handle, and my personal favorite – no pants. And how do you get away with no pants? Dresses. (That, or a few drinks and a lot of courage.)

I’ve rounded up a few go-to dresses here for you, so check them out and get to shopping:

Lulu’s, Castana Dress: I’m not usually one for any sort of print or color, but this dress was a must for me. It’s got a great silhouette for all body types, and the detailing on the sleeves gives it a little more of a girly flair. But per usual, I had to grunge it up a bit so I paired it with Supergas and a backdrop from the side of a house downtown – as seen above. (Click here to find it.)

Target, Striped Back-Slit Midi Dress: The perfect dress for a casual stroll around downtown Charleston, I saw this online the other day when I was doing my daily browse of the Target website. (I can’t help it, I’m obsessed.) It comes in a rust orange color which I think would pair so well with a camel brown shoe and straw bag. (Find it here.)

Lulu’s, Gingham Tie-Front Dress: One word – obsessed. I am absolutely loving everything gingham this summer and of course I love this dress even more because it’s black and white. I really liked the tie-front aspect of the dress and the fact that it had such thin straps, which makes me think of all the spaghetti strapped dresses of the 90’s. This dress is such a steal too at only $46! Now all I need are some platform slip-ons to complete the whole 90’s look. (Click here to find it.)

Nordstrom, Ali & Jay Ruffle Wrap Dress: Even though it’s summer and the heat is really kicking in here in Charleston, I couldn’t resist buying this long, gorgeous, black and white dress. If you hadn’t noticed, I’m pretty obsessed with ruffles so of course this dress a must. I can’t wait to pair it with a pair of strappy black heels for a girl’s night out! (Click here to buy it.)

Topshop, Leopard Wrap Dress: Again – big prints and bright colors aren’t something I usually go for, but this summer I’m challenging myself to get a little bit out of my comfort zone. And this leopard print dress is doing just that. But how could I resist?! Wrap dresses are so classic and the print was just too good to pass up on. Plus, the shoulders have a tiny bit of ruching, giving it a fun, 80’s vibe. (Find it by clicking here.)

Nordstrom, Off The Shoulder Romper: Okay, so it’s technically not a dress, but it was too cute to not share with y’all. I’m loving off the shoulder for the summer, since it helps keep things cool. The sleeves are long, but loose – which again helps keep things cool, aka the ultimate selling point in all summer clothes. (Click here to buy it.)

What dresses (or rompers!) are you loving this summer? Let me know in the comments!
