Here are just a few of my must-have items this fall!
1. Printed Tops
After purchasing three in just two weeks, I think it’s safe to say that printed tops are my newest obsession this fall. I normally tend to wear solid colors (and mostly black or grey, to be honest), but this fall I’m branching out and embracing the animal-print tops. My favorites include this featured Topshop blouse and these from Zara (Animal Printed Blouse) and Storets (Mona Tigress Blouse).
2. Cozy Sweaters
Nothing says fall like a good, cozy sweater. And as usual, I can’t resist buying a ton of them once the weather drops just a teeny bit here in Charleston. I’m loving a good cropped sweater this season (like this Topshop one), but I’m also still a sucker for the usual oversized knits (like this one from Volcom) and a classic cashmere turtleneck sweater (like this one from Haolgen).
3. Black Boots
A closet staple that I always have at the ready is a trusty pair of black boots. You can wear them with jeans, skirts, and dresses, making them amazing transitional pieces. this fall, I caved and finally bought the Jeffrey Campbell boots I’ve been dying to have for ages. Not only do they check my box for everyday black boots, but they also double as my statement piece when I feel like rocking the monochrome look. You can find them here. (P.s. I’ve been searching for the perfect pair of over-the-knee boots too, so let me know where I should look in the comments below!)
4. Statement Pants
I’m usually always in black denim, but this fall I’m branching out and including some statement pants in my must-haves. I just ordered these beautiful (and so colorful for me!) black and pink plaid pants from Topshop which you can find here. Other pairs I’ve been eying are these faux-leather pants from Nordstrom (found here) and these zip-up, flare corduroy pants (found here).
Is it really fall without a good flannel? My favorites always come from Urban Outfitters – they’re beyond soft and just so, so comfortable (find them here). But since I seem to have every single one in my closet already, I finally looked somewhere else for this season. I found this super cute Angie flannel on Nordstrom (you can find it here), and I’m so in love. Another cute option is this Madewell Classic Ex-Boyfriend Flannel, which you can find here.
Somehow every fall I convince myself that I absolutely need a new jacket and this Halogen Overlapping Collar Coat was too good to pass up. I love the way this coat looks when you wear it unbuttoned, and the overlapping collar provides a fun and breezy look. Another option that I’m just about two days from owning is this Kensie Faux-Sherling Coat – it has such a gorgeous color and is bound to keep you warm. For those days that it’s still not quite as cold as I’d prefer for fall though, this lightweight PRIMA Trench Coat.
The biggest debate I have every morning when I’m getting dressed for work is if I want to dress for the season or the weather because as you might guess, Charleston isn’t the best at realizing when it’s supposed to be fall. But wearing a skirt makes it easy to dress for the season and the weather. This Topshop utility skirt (found here) is one that I suspect will quickly become a go-to, seeing as it’s so easy to pair with a loose tee or even a chunkier knit. Another great option for a fun fall skirt is this amazing BlankNYC Suede Mini (found here).
