Thanksgiving Outfit Ideas

Happy (almost) Turkey day, you guys! Thanksgiving is my favorite time of the year because I always feel like everyone starts to get a little bit kinder. On top of that, I get to spend time with my family and eat a ton of food – and those are two of the best things for my soul.

Since I love the holiday and everything about it, I always put a lot of thought into what I wear at Thanksgiving. My family doesn’t really dress up for the holiday (we all prefer jeans and a tee over stiff and tight clothes), so I always try to find something that’s cute and also a little casual.

This year I’m rounding up a few pieces I think will be great for a cute and casual Thanksgiving feast, so check them out below:

This grey sweater is so soft and comfortable. I bought it just a few weeks ago and have been wearing it non-stop since. It looks so cute tucked into some high-waisted skinny jeans or even a cute skirt with some ankle boots. This sweater is billowy enough to hide my turkey tummy and is made of a light enough fabric to wear comfortably in an overcrowded kitchen – even with the mock turtleneck action going on. You can find it here for just $49.00.

I love everything about this dress – the fit, the colors, the cut, and especially the price. I got it from Forever 21 for only $24! (You can find it by clicking here.) I’m 90 percent sure this is going to be my Thanksgiving outfit, paired with some light tan ankle boots and an oversized, cropped, cream turtleneck sweater underneath. However, if you wanted to go for a little bit of a nicer look, you could always pair it with a detailed button up, as shown here.

Another option would be to wear jeans with a loose tank and a cardigan. It’s an easy go-to option and something that you might not have to even go shopping to accomplish – bonus! I know I talked about it as one of my coziest items in m recent post (found here), but I am still loving this Fisherman’s Cardigan from Treasure & Bond. You can find it on sale at Nordstrom for $53 right now by clicking here! I recently wore this to a Friendsgiving as a test run for a potential Thanksgiving outfit and I loved it. It was nice and roomy and so easy to snuggle up in once I was in my food coma.

Something you absolutely can’t go wrong with is a cute blouse. Paired with jeans or a skirt, a blouse is a great way to dress up your more casual lower half. I love wearing blouses with a dressy pair of skinny jeans and some ankle boots, and this season I’m loving crisp, white bouses. I love that a staple-piece like a white blouse can be dressed up or down. I just found the perfect blouse at H&M for only $29 (find it here), that would look so cute with either a deep red or a camel colored corduroy skirt this Thanksgiving. It’s got a tie-front to keep it interesting and the fabric is so light and flowy, that it’ll be sure to hide any sort of food baby you might be rocking.

I’ve said it a few times in this post already, but a good pair of ankle boots can take any outfit from too casual to casual cute instantly. Since I’m a sucker for a good pair, I wanted to share a few that I’ve had my eye on this fall. I love this black pair of faux-suede booties from Old Navy (found here for just $44) and a pair of taupe booties from Steve Madden (found here) for just $89. Another great option from Steve Madden is the Billey Boot in white, which can be found here for $129.

A classic that usually ends up being my go-to each year is a cream sweater. I like to find one that has some subtle detailing or a feature that helps the sweater become the statement piece of my outfit, while not overpowering the “casual cute” vibe that I’m searching for. This Topshop cream turtleneck sweater is the perfect balance for that. It’s cozy, oversized (yay to no food baby sightings!), and it’s something that can be worn a ton of different ways – with jeans, skirts, under dresses, etc. You can find this particular sweater here for $68.

The last item on my Thanksgiving outfit roundup is this stunning sweater dress from Madewell. I absolutely love a good sweater dress (you get to be cozy AND you don’t have to wear pants!), so of course, I was instantly in love with this burgundy one from Madewell. I think it’d be so cute with a pair of over the knee boots, which is great because my pair of Marc Fisher’s just came in haha. You can find the sweater dress here for $118!
